現代人とそれを取り巻くさまざまな事象を独自の世界観で表現したポートレートシリーズ。 イラストレーターとしてのキャリアを生かしながら、独学によりアーティストとしてのキャリアを積み重ねて来たfeebee ならではの新シリーズは今年の2月の発表以来、国内外から大きな注目を集めています。 皆様からのご要望に応えて「Bitten from Within」の最新作12点による個展を開催致しますので、是非この機会にご覧下さいませ。

This series of portraits by feebee represents people and along with the myriad events surrounding them with a unique worldview.

Since its release in February of 2022, the new series by this self-taught artist has elicited a great deal of attention both domestically and internationally.
In response to the requests of our delightful customers, we are pleased to present feebee’s solo exhibition of the 12 latest works from the much-talked-about "Bitten from Within." series.

【作家ステートメント】

本個展での展示作品「Bitten from Within」シリーズは、現代人の病を題材としています。「首に噛みつく獣」は、人が他者(社会)と関わることによって現れてきた形です。

他者との関わりは人間にとって人生を豊かにする大切な要素ですが、現代人は1人で居る時も、スマートフォンを通してSNS などでとても長い時間「社会」と関わりを持ち、常に「他者」や「他者から見た自分」を意識し続けています。人の内面を形成するのは、外面である社会との関わりであり、反対に外面である社会に影響を与え形成していくのも、個人の内面であると私は思っています。

「Bitten from Within」とは日本語に直訳すると「内面に噛まれる」という意味を持ちます。つまり内面とは噛まれている自分自身であり、首に噛みつく獣は一見恐ろしいですが、その姿は身体の無い頭だけの存在で、このような頭だけの死んだ獣がどんなに噛みつこうと決して自分自身を殺すことなど出来るはずもなく、獣に噛まれたままにしておくのも獣を取り除くのも結局は自分次第なのだと思います。

Art And Pulse Artist's Statement

The subject of Bitten from Within, the series presented at this exhibition, is the illness of modern man.

The beast biting the neck appears when an individual interacts with others (society)

Art And Pulse Having relations with other people is an important part of living a fulfilling life; however, with social media easily accessible through a smartphone, an individual remains exposed to society even when alone and thus is constantly reminded of the presence of the Other and becomes acutely aware of how others perceive them. This is critical as individuals are influenced by society and in turn, society is shaped by individuals.

Art And Pulse Bitten from Within translated directly into Japanese also means bitten by oneself.

Though the beast appears frightening, it is a severed head unable to kill the person whom it is biting. Whether to remove the beast or leave it be is up to the individual.
